How to setup delegation in Microsoft Teams?

Delegation is useful when someone want to delegate their access for schedule meeting or pickup calls. As a delegate,you can access the calendar of the person you’re a delegate for and set up a Microsoft Teams Meeting just like any other meeting. To schedule a Microsoft Teams Meeting on behalf of someone you’re a delegate for, simply follow the steps to set up delegation in Teams.

Open Microsoft Teams app and then click on your profile picture at the top of the app, then click Settings > General.

1. Under Delegation, click Manage delegates. Refer below image.

1. lick Your delegates and type the person’s name in the Add a delegate box.
2. Check the ‘Make calls’ and ‘Receive calls’ boxes for your delegate and then click Save. Refer below image.

• Your delegate receives a notification letting them know about their new status.

Now the person appears in your delegates list, which will be a default selection in your call forwarding and simultaneous ring options.

1. Go to Settings > Calls. Under Forward my calls, you’ll see My delegates as the default Forward to option.
2. Go to Settings > Calls again. Under Calls ring me, you’ll see My delegates as an option in the Also ring menu.

How to make a call as a delegate?

Once you’ve been added as a delegate, you can make calls on behalf of someone else or receive calls if check ‘make calls and receive calls’ check box while setting up delegation.

1. Open Teams app and start a one-on-one chat with the person you want to call.
2. Click Audio call.
3. From the menu,select the name of the person you’re calling for.

Note: Teams doesn’tsupport delegates making calls directly to phone numbers yet. That is, it won’tuse the delegator’s caller ID for the call.

Delegation option is missing in Teams app

If you are not seeing delegation option under setting in Teams apps then you might not have enterprise voice enabled.

To have Enterprise voice enabled you must have “Phone System” license and calling plan license assigned apart from Teams license. Thank you.
