Unable to login on Skype for Business client

For windows: There is multiple cause for Skype for Business client sign-in issues:

  1. Check your sign-in address: (most of time Sign-in address is same as your email address)
    • Check the format of your sign-in address. It should look something like [email protected]. Make sure to use your organization credentials, not your personal Skype account or Microsoft account.
    • You may be asked for both a user ID and a sign-in address. For most organizations, these two are the same, so enter your user ID in both boxes. (If your organization using Skype for Business On-premises your user ID will be domain\UserID)
  2. Enter your account password:
    • If you recently changed your password, you might need to re-enter your new password in Skype for Business client to sign-in.

Note: if you’re signing in to Skype for Business for the first time, enter your Office 365 user ID, click Sign In address, enter your password, and click Sign In again. If issue persist then follow the below steps.

  1. Clear the sign-in information.
    • On the Skype for Business sign in screen, click Delete my sign-in info.

 

  • Then Click on Sign In, Under Password, enter your password, and click Sign In.

4. If issue persist then check if your password works with Office 365 login.

    • Try using your sign-in address and password to login to Office 365 portal: browse https://portal.office.com, if you are able to login means your sign-in address and password is correct.
    • If you can’t sign in to Office 365, your password might be incorrect. Try resetting your password or contact IT helpdesk.

5.Update your computer’s date and time, sometime your computer time will cause Skype for Business sign-in                 issues hence its worth to check system time.

    1. If you’re getting an error that your clock is wrong, try updating your computer’s date and time.

For Mac Book: Skype for Business on Mac provides a great online meeting experience with the latest in audio and video features, desktop sharing, and ease of use. Incase you are seeing issues then follow the mentioned steps.

  1. Sign in to Skype for Business on Mac:
    1. You need a sign-in address and password for sign-in to Skype for Business. If you don’t have sign-in address and password, then check with your organization IT Admin
  2. Your sign-in address looks like this: [email protected].
    1. You might be asked for both a user name and a sign-in address. If you are a Skype for Business Online user, use [email protected]g. [email protected]. Otherwise, use domain\userID. E.g. bloguc\bilag.
  3. Sign in to Skype for Business on Mac for the first time
    1. In the Dock, click the Skype for Business icon to open the app.
    2. Enter your sign-in address (for example, [email protected]) and password, and then click Sign In.

 

Tip: If you don’t want to enter your password each time you sign in to Skype for Business on Mac, select the Remember my password check box. If you are asked for both a user name and a sign-in address, click Advanced Options. If you are a Skype for Business Online user, use [email protected]. E.g. [email protected] Otherwise, use domain\username, e.g. bloguc\bilag and then click Sign In.
