How to customize notification in Microsoft Teams app?

Notification is very important to keep track on your messages, @ mentions, calls etc. If you are not available then you will receive email notification for the Teams activity however you must select notification via email, to receive notification email when you missed call, chat etc.

To customize your notification settings:

For Teams desktop client: Click on your profile picture at the top of the app and then click Settings > Notifications. Here you can fine-tune what notifications you receive and how they appear. Refer the below screenshot.

For Teams mobile app:

To customize your notifications, tap More button > Settings > Notifications.

From there tap Open settings to access your iOS settings for Teams. Then tap Notifications > Allow notifications to determine how you want to view Teams notifications. Refer the below image which shows different notification for chat, mentions, replies, followed channel posts etc.

How do I turn on notification for specific activity?

To turn on notification is very easy. If you want to get notifications for specific activity in a channel, go to the channel name and select More options> Channel notifications. This allows you to get notified of channel activity and. From there you can choose where and what notifications you want to get. Refer below image which shows channel notification settings.

If you set notification form as Banner and feed that will send notifications to your device and toActivity at the top left of the Teams app. Feed will skip sending notifications to your desktop and will only show up in your activity feed.

In case you want to turn of notification then select “off” under drop down and your channel notification will be off.

Here are the different types of settings you’ll find in channel notifications:

• All new posts will notify you each time someone starts a new conversation in the channel
• Include all replies will notify you any time someone replies to a conversation
• Channel mentions will notify you whenever someone @mentions the channel

You can refer above image which show notification for new post include replies and channel mentions.

In case if you click on, Reset to defaultwill turn on notifications for each item and will notify you in your activity feed and will send desktop banner notifications.
