What Office 365 license plan include Microsoft Teams subscription?

Microsoft Teams is a part of Office 365 subscriptions; however, there are many different Office 365 subscriptions available, and Teams has so many features such as, persistent chat, audio/video call/ meeting, phone call (PSTN), content sharing and so on, that makes some confusion. Caveat: I am neither Microsoft License expert, nor sell Microsoft licenses, this post specifically gives you some Teams license information. For enterprise license, need to contact Microsoft.

Teams Add-on Licenses:

  • Audio Conferencing: To use Teams audio conferencing (to allow the participant to join meeting via dial-in to conference bridge number and conf ID) need “Audio Conference” license as Add-on license that license admin can acquire from Office 365 admin portal under the licensing tab.
  • Phone system: To use dial-pad in Teams to dial-out external phone numbers and receives an external phone call require phone system license (aka, cloud PBX).
  • Calling plan: Teams phone system is an add-on license that enables Teams users to use PBX functionality; however, making phone calls to local, national, and international numbers requires calling plan license.
